Box Elder County has an opening for a Seasonal Flagger/Laborer/Sweeper. The Seasonal Flagger/Laborer/Sweeper is responsible for and performs temporary traffic control operations such as flagging.  Applicant must be a competent driver and able to set up traffic control signage and must be willing and able to stand for long periods in the heat of the day.  Applicant must be willing and able to do physical labor such as shoveling, pot hole repair, and concrete work.  Applicant must be able to run mobile equipment such as rollers and brooms.

Those interested in this position must be a high school graduate or equivalent and possess a valid Utah Driver’s license.  Applicant must have the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public.  Applicant must be able to follow written and verbal instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.  Applicant also must be able to pass Temporary Traffic Control Technician Certification.

GENERAL PURPOSE

Performs temporary traffic control operations such as flagging. Must be a competent driver and able to set up traffic control signage. SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of the Road Department Operations Supervisor or Lead Foreman of the Project.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES

Flagging

Pot hole repair

Run sweeper

Run a roller

Be able to pass the flagger certification

Be able to pass Temporary Traffic Control Technician Certification

Go door to door giving out work notifications in neighborhoods

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

(1) Must be a high school graduate or equivalent.

(2) Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public; ability to follow written and verbal instructions; ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing. Ability to pass the flagger certification.
